To install MODx, it must download the source code is available at
MODX . It retrieves a stored file format. Zip, unzip it takes on its local hard drive. It then opens an FTP client (SmartFTP I like that I've never been a problem all these years) and connects to the remote site you want. Just then upload the contents of the archive. All content? All content. There are a few MB, it takes a little time. Ten minutes to break everything.

Step 1: First, a threatening message appears:

, I check all tables that start with modx_ and I "delete" then I confirm. Hop. The db is empty, remain only a few tables that appear to involve something else. Back to the previous step in Modx. And finally I get the sesame expected:

to step 4. I start, and everything goes smoothly. Finally get the message of victory as expected:

We see the importance of having a database installed properly, and clean. This is at least my tenth installation of MODx, and whenever I had problems was because of the base data.

Click on install now. Then comes a nice window with the choice of language (XviD take as long as you are) and a NEXT button, which you must click on ....
Step 2: A window appears that says Welcome to the MODx installation. Clicking on the START button. Down the next page, you select the I accept the license agreement. and clicking on Next . In the next window, you choose New Installation course.
Step 3: The next screen is the Connection Settings. So you need a database on your SQL server and a username and password provided by your host. In my case, I chose to test these OVH hosting kindly sent me the following word:

So obviously it shows these settings in the interface install MODx. For the database name, prefix and a snack, I let the stuff by default. For cons, I change the Admin and I replaced with a login and password to me. Finally I click Next.
If it does not work then there is a problem with the database, make sure all the settings from your provider (including access rights) and try again.
Step 4: If it works on the next page leave all options checked, and check the example website. Then click Install. On the next page, all lights should be green. check. If there are problems, correct them and then try again. In my case, everything worked, then I click on Install. And then, one problem.

Creating database `modx`: The creation of the database failed! - Setup could not create the database!
database = database collation charset =Setup could not create the database, and no existing database with the same name was found. Presumably the security settings of your hoster do not allow external scripts to create a database. Please follow the procedure made available by your host to create the database, then retry the installation.
Hmmm. A bit of gibberish. Let's see what we can do. I click the button and get an ugly page with the code.

After connecting to the manager, you must edit and save system configuration settings before visiting the site by selecting Administration
- > System Configuration in the MODx Manager. Automatically delete the folder "install " my site
So we will do as they say. Anyway, when I click on the button, I get on well the manager interface. Login and password and presto! here I am able to manage my new site. By default the interface is in English, so évidememment not found System settings where they indicate, but to Tools> Configuration. Here you can set the site name and language.
